About Dr. Bertwin Lord (Dr. B)
Bertwin Krosch Lord, PhD, PE, PMP, PgMP, QAI, QC, RMP … (Dr. B) has a lot of qualifications behind his name. What this really means is Dr. B has a fanatical drive to lean more and more about his industry. If he is designing systems in his office at Cooling Tower, working with a customer in their home, or lecturing engineering graduate students he is equally at ease.
Dr. B credits his father with most of where his life has gone. When he was 8 years old and shoveling the drive way where his complaints must have been very loud, Dr. B’s (who everyone called Bert back then) father, Dennis, told him you can sing or you can cry but no matter what you are shoveling that drive way. Dennis was a school teacher who became the accountant and tax man in a very small town. Everybody knew Dennis and Dennis knew everybody. Dennis knew Bert did not like working in the office so Dennis reached out to his clients and asked them to train Bert in their various trades. This started Bert’s apprenticeship as a mason, plumber, electrician, HVAC&R technician, roofer, gutters, siding, machinist, and auto mechanic. Bert learned he loved working with his hands. Dennis died when Bert was only 17 years old.
Bert finished high school and then joined the US Navy. As Bert was thirsty for knowledge, even at an early age, and he could test very well. The Navy decided to put Bert into the Navy Nuclear Power Program and a Machinist Mate. Bert spent the next two years going to one of the most difficult schools in the USA. The Navy Nuclear Propulsion Training Program accepts only those who can pass the most stringent of tests and even then, has a 75% drop rating in their program. Upon graduation Bert was deployed on two US Navy Nuclear Submarines and ended his career and Pearl Harbor Shipyard.
While at Pearl Harbor Bert started Salty Dog Enterprises in 2002 which later became Comfort Solutions Air Conditioning in November of 2008 and Cooling Tower AC in 2017.
Once his military career was over Bert started working with the US Department of Defense, US Department of State, and several government contractors working with the war effort in Iraq and Afghanistan. During this time, Bert became Dr. B getting his doctorate from McKinley State College.
Bert turned over operation of the company in 2006 when he left the Navy and started working overseas and then returning to Hawaii in January of 2015 once again became the President and GM of Cooling Tower Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
